Abstract
OK-INBRE Data Science Core Summary The Data Science Core (DSC) builds on the success of the existing OK-INBRE Bioinformatics Core and expands the Core to include additional data science expertise through the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (OMRF) to meet the objectives of this initiative. The Core will provide both traditional biostatistics methods and computational and bioinformatics approaches, particularly in the area of genomics, as well as microbial genomics, microbiomics and transcriptomics. Together, the OUHSC and OMRF combined DSC will oversee the educational advancement and vast breadth of collaborative projects and will provide data science and bioinformatics education, workforce development, and outreach, including initiatives to promote data deposition, cataloging and utilization and provide data analysis services to all the OK-INBRE network partners across a wide array of disciplines. The DSC will address the goals of the INBRE program by maintaining bioinformatics support throughout the OK-INBRE network and expanding training opportunities to data scientists and information specialists to build the research capacity necessary for Oklahoma to operate within today’s highly integrated biomedical research landscape.
