1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Moonbase at explore.moonbase.biz, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and all applicable laws and regulations. If you do not agree with any of these terms, you are prohibited from using this service.

We reserve the right to update these terms at any time. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.

2. Description of Service

Moonbase is a research intelligence platform that aggregates, scores, and surfaces federally-funded research projects from public government databases including NSF, NIH, SBIR, STTR, DOE, and NASA.

The platform provides a free tier for individual researchers and may offer institutional plans for universities and enterprises. Features available under each tier may change over time.

3. Advertising

Moonbase displays advertisements served by Google AdSense to help support the free availability of the platform. By using the Service, you acknowledge that:

• Ads may be personalised based on your browsing activity using cookies and similar technologies.
• You can manage your personalised ad preferences at google.com/settings/ads.
• Ad content is determined by Google; Moonbase does not control individual ad placements or advertisers.
• Advertisements will not be displayed on login, signup, or donation flow screens.

4. Research Donations

Moonbase allows authenticated users to make voluntary financial contributions ("Donations") to specific federally-funded research projects. By making a Donation, you agree to the following:

4.1 Non-Refundable. All Donations are final and non-refundable once confirmed by our payment processor (Stripe). Moonbase may, at its sole discretion, issue refunds in exceptional circumstances.

4.2 Disbursement. Donated funds are processed by Stripe on Moonbase's behalf and disbursed to the intended recipient university or research institution. Moonbase does not guarantee a specific disbursement timeline.

4.3 Platform Fee. Moonbase may deduct a platform fee (up to 5%) from each Donation to cover payment processing and operational costs. The net amount disbursed to the university is the Donation amount less any platform fee and Stripe processing fees.

4.4 University Verification. Moonbase manually verifies and onboards recipient institutions before they are eligible to receive Donations. Moonbase does not guarantee that any specific university or research project will be available to receive Donations at any given time.

4.5 Payment Processing. All Donations are processed by Stripe, Inc. By making a Donation, you also agree to Stripe's Terms of Service (stripe.com/legal). Card data never touches Moonbase's servers.

4.6 Tax Disclosure. Moonbase acts as a facilitator of donations and does not itself conduct charitable or tax-exempt activities. Donations made through Moonbase are not tax-deductible unless independently verified with the recipient institution.

5. User Accounts

To access certain features, you must create an account. You are responsible for:

• Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
• All activity that occurs under your account.
• Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized use.
• Providing accurate and complete registration information.

We reserve the right to terminate accounts that violate these terms or remain inactive for an extended period.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use Moonbase to:

• Scrape, crawl, or bulk-download data from the platform using automated means.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the platform or its infrastructure.
• Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the service.
• Transmit any harmful, offensive, or unlawful content.
• Impersonate any person or entity.
• Use the service for any commercial purpose without prior written consent from Moonbase.
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the platform.

7. Intellectual Property

The Moonbase platform, including its design, software, scoring methodology, and user interface, is owned by Moonbase, Inc. and protected by intellectual property laws.

The underlying grant data is sourced from publicly available federal databases and is subject to the respective agencies' terms of use. Moonbase makes no claim of ownership over the raw federal data.

The Moonbase Score™ and associated scoring methodology are proprietary to Moonbase, Inc.

8. The Moonbase Score™ — Disclaimer

The Moonbase Score™ is an algorithmic estimate of commercial potential based on publicly available data. It is provided for informational and research purposes only.

• Scores do not constitute investment advice, financial advice, or professional recommendations of any kind.
• Past scoring performance does not guarantee future accuracy.
• Moonbase makes no warranty that scores are accurate, complete, or suitable for any particular purpose.
• Users should conduct their own due diligence before making any commercial or investment decisions.

9. Third-Party Data and Links

Moonbase aggregates data from federal government databases. While we strive for accuracy, we cannot guarantee that all data is current, complete, or error-free. Data may lag behind official sources.

Any links to external websites are provided for convenience. Moonbase is not responsible for the content or privacy practices of external sites.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

Moonbase is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. Moonbase does not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Moonbase, Inc. shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of Moonbase — including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or business opportunities.

12. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to Moonbase at any time, with or without cause, and with or without notice. Upon termination, your right to use the service ceases immediately.

13. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
