Abstract
The proposed work aims to provide insights into the development of inhibitory neurons in the human brain using cutting-edge, human-derived stem cell models. By discovering the molecular mechanisms that guide the maturation of specific interneuron subtypes, this study could lead to new therapeutic strategies for treating neurodevelopmental and neurological disorders such as epilepsy and schizophrenia. Our findings will reveal molecular and cellular specific mechanisms necessary for enhancing the efficacy of cell-based therapies to repair overactive brain circuits, control seizures, and improve cognitive outcomes in patients.
