ADMINISTRATIVE CORE PROJECT SUMMARY / ABSTRACT The Center of Biomedical Research Excellence in Multiscale Biomolecular Sensing will unite experts in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, spectroscopy, materials science, and biomedical engineering to develop novel mechanisms and tools for sensing of biochemical and biological processes that will directly impact a wide range of human diseases. A strong Administrative Core is essential both to the function of the Center and for maximizing its scientific impact. This Core will lead administrative and fiscal operations of the Center, as well as support the scientific operations of the Research Projects and the Research Core. A diverse team of internationally recognized, NIH-funded researchers with broad scientific expertise will collaborate to rigorously manage the workload of the Center. Mentoring of the Research Projects Leads to ensure their success will be central to the mission of the Center, including a mentor training program for the faculty mentors of the Research Projects Leads. The Center will strive to continuously improve itself through rigorous, assessment and evaluation. To accomplish our goals, we will: Aim 1. Lead the Administrative, Fiscal, and Scientific Aspects of the Proposed COBRE. Aim 2. Implement a Mentoring and Career Development Plan. Aim 3. Expand Center Impact Through Development, Growth, and Retention of Faculty. Aim 4. Assess Progress Towards Center Milestones Using Summative and Formative Evaluation. Success of the Administrative Core will result in the growth of the Center and the expansion of the footprint of biomolecular sensing at the University and in the State of Delaware.
