The Biomedical Research Initiative for Doctoral Graduate Education (B.R.I.D.G.E.) Program at Clark Atlanta University (CAU) is a structured predoctoral research training initiative designed to enhance biomedical science graduate education through a combination of rigorous academic coursework, mentored research experiences, and professional development activities. The program supports the development of students pursuing careers in biomedical research by strengthening foundational competencies, laboratory skills, and scientific communication. Over the five-year project period, B.R.I.D.G.E. will support 40 graduate student research periods through a phased two-year appointment cycle. Trainees will engage in mentored research in active laboratories across the Departments of Biological Sciences, Chemistry, and Computer and Information Science. Each trainee will participate in activities aligned with their Individual Development Plan (IDP), including training in scientific writing, responsible conduct of research, and advanced research methods.
