Administrative Core

CORE SUMMARY The Administrative Core will provide dedicated and effective administrative management as well as biostatistical support to the Program Project. The overall goal is to facilitate collaborative and innovative cancer research through strong scientific, operational, and financial management of Program resources. The primary functions of the Administrative Core are to provide organizational and administrative management, including scientific and fiscal management appropriate for this proposed Program and to ensure proper data sharing between Program members. The Core will monitor and track all expenditures and ensure accurate allocation of funds; provide logistics support for other aspects including personnel actions, IACUC documents, record keeping, progress reports, arrange and coordinate meetings of the Program leaders and investigators, including travel. The Core will also provide coordination and continuity between Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (ISMMS), Columbia University (CU), Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and Sloan Kettering Institute (SKI) performance sites for the duration of the Program. In addition, the Core will provide biostatistical support for all four Projects. Dr. James Manfredi, Professor at the Departments of Oncological Sciences at ISMMS, will lead the Core. Ed Hicks, MBA, MA will provide day-to-day administrative, financial, and operational oversight. Ms. Amanda Caba will provide general administrative assistance to all Program members. Dr. Himanshu Joshi will provide appropriate biostatistical support to ensure experimental design is sound and findings are reproducible and rigorous. An External Advisory Board consisting of four leaders in the fields of p53 and metastasis will provide essential scientific advice. Each year, the Administrative Core will organize a retreat for Program members as well as a workshop on Mutant p53 which will be open to scientists outside the Program as well. The goal is to not only facilitate the success of the Program but also ensure that science developed by the Program will be shared with the greater scientific community.
