Project Summary The Database Management and Statistical (DMS) Core of the Columbia Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center formalizes and expands central data management and biostatistical resources and functions that have existed since the inception of the Columbia ADRC in 1989. The specific aims of the DMS Core are as follows: Aim #1: Maintain a central data resource for information generated by all cores and provide well-defined procedures and mechanisms for maintaining the accuracy, integrity and security of Columbia ADRC data. Aim #2: Facilitate access to Center resources, including clinical, genetics, biofluids, neuropathological, and imaging data. Aim #3: Ensure timely submission of data to NACC and work with the Administrative Core to facilitate and coordinate data sharing, including the processing and fulfillment of requests for data and biological resources. Aim #4: Serve as a resource to the other cores and Alzheimer’s research initiatives with respect to research design, statistical analysis, planning and training. Aim #5: In collaboration with the ORE and Clinical Cores, enhance existing web-based systems to a) support recruitment into clinical trials and observational studies; b) facilitate inclusion of NIH-designated high-risk populations in the ADRC and related projects; c) streamline acquisition and submission of autopsy data. By centralizing data management, epidemiological and statistical oversight and training in the DMS Core, we will ensure consistency in data definitions, sample selection, epidemiologic considerations, choice of statistical tests, model building and interpretation of study results.
