Diabetes Research and Engagement through Advanced Multilevel Science Center for Diabetes Translational Research (DREAMS-CDTR)

Diabetes mellitus is a significant health burden in the United States; the prevalence of Type 2 diabetes (T2DM) is growing rapidly and rates of diabetes complications are on the rise. Led by diabetes translational researchers from the Kaiser Permanente Northern California Division of Research, Stanford University, University of California San Francisco, University of California Davis, and University of California Merced, the Diabetes Research and Engagement through Advanced Multilevel Science Center for Diabetes Translation Research (DREAMS-CDTR) seeks to catalyze the development and implementation of innovative, high-impact, and sustainable interventions to improve diabetes outcomes across all U.S. populations. DREAMS- CDTR seeks to inform real-world practices and policies in care delivery, public health and community settings as follows: Specific Aim 1: To maintain, grow and deepen a robust cross- disciplinary network that supports diabetes translational research within and across multiple institutions in northern California; Specific Aim 2: To maintain and strengthen two Translational Research Cores in Health Engagement and Action Translation and Methods and Data Integration, as well as a Diabetes Policy Research Resource Core. Specific Aim 3: To maintain and enhance Pilot and Feasibility and Enrichment programs to support and fund preliminary research essential for planning future diabetes translational R01s, R21s, and K-awards by Early-Stage Investigators.
