Abstract

Ohio-Project Summary The Ohio Department of Agriculture will continue to development and implement a produce safety program based on the FDA’s Produce Safety rule. This will help advance efforts for a national integrated food safety system. To that end, Ohio will be following Path C. We will be conducting inspections under our own authority, providing educational opportunities and outreach such as on farm consultations; and continue to determine Ohio’s produce grower inventory. Ohio falls into band 4 for education and inventory and band 5 for regulatory activities. Ohio will share all information concerning our produce safety program, with the FDA. Ohio’s jurisdictional authority can be found in https://codes.ohio.gov/ohio-revised-code/chapter-925 , Ohio Revised Code 925.54. Ohio has adopted the Produce Safety rule by reference and can be found at https://codes.ohio.gov/ohio-administrative-code/chapter-901:3-12 , Ohio Administrative Code 901:3- 12.
