Abstract
ABSTRACT -- BIOCHEMISTRY & CELL BIOLOGY MODULE The Biochemistry & Cell Biology Module provides resources for protein, nucleic acid, and liposome purification and analyses, intermolecular interaction characterization, large-scale tissue profiling, and cell and tissue culturing. The module also offers instrumentation and expertise for quantitative analysis of protein expression, phosphorylation, and lipid abundance profiles. The module arose from the needs of VRC investigators to facilitate biochemical and cellular biological analyses among faculty who are not necessarily experts in these fields and are specifically interested in the detection and analyses of proteins, DNA plasmids, shuttle vectors, and small molecules. The specific aims of the Biochemistry & Cell Biology Module are to provide resources for ultracentrifugation and centrifugation, protein and DNA quantitation, HPLC-MS and GC-MS analyses, surface plasmon resonance (SPR) analysis, neonatal electroporation technology, cryosectioning, and tissue culture at biosafety level 2 (BSL2).
