Abstract
Abstract Cardiovascular diseases persist as a significant public health concern, with a five-year survival rate of approximately 50% and imposing healthcare costs estimated at $250 billion. In the United States, nearly 805,000 individuals experience a heart attack annually, predominantly resulting from coronary artery disease (CAD). While traditional percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) techniques have exhibited substantial effectiveness in managing superficial lesions, 38% of PCI procedures are categorized as complex, including complex lesions or chronic total occlusions (CTOs). These intricate procedures often involve numerous challenges, such as complexities associated with coronary anatomy, comorbidities, concurrent cardiac conditions, and left ventricular dysfunction. The utilization of a stable guide catheter is essential for the successful execution of these interventions; nonetheless, despite the availability of various devices in the marketplace, none have effectively provided the requisite backup force for transradial access, which necessitates a high backup force within a smaller catheter profile. Nimble Surgical aims to introduce an innovative, manually operable FlexLock guide catheter featuring an anchoring tip that will deliver simultaneous active and passive support, ensuring stable coronary access without compromising lumen space and concurrently enhancing perfusion, thereby mitigating the risk of ischemia.
