The Physiology of the Weight Reduced State Data Coordinating Center

Supplemental funding is requested for the Data Coordinating Center (DCC) for the Physiology Of the Weight Reduced State (POWERS) consortium. Though the Request for Application indicated that there would be support for “up to two Clinical Centers”, one of the successful applicants now includes 4 institutions. With the DCC budgeting the single IRB (sIRB) costs for two Clinical Centers, additional funding is needed due to additional costs for IRB costs for the 5 institutions comprising the two Clinical Centers. Additionally, the funding for the study website did not include costs related to using the website as a recruitment tool or for data collection, which is now being done. Finally, the more extensive data collection being proposed once the protocol began to be developed, including data streams from several devices, was not including in our original application.
