Description

The Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) is the component of the U.S. Department of Justice responsible for advancing the practice of community policing and the Administration’s priority of Making America Safe Again by supporting the nation’s state, local, territorial and Tribal law enforcement agencies through information and grant resources. The COPS Office seeks to expand law enforcement accreditation through this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO). Community Policing Development – Accreditation Under this funding opportunity, the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS Office) is seeking to establish new and support existing accreditation bodies in states or territories. Funding will focus on such activities as providing technical assistance to agencies, defraying or underwriting accreditation costs, improving customer service and marketing, and developing user-friendly policy templates.

Special district governments; Public and State controlled institutions of higher education; Nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education; For profit organizations other than small businesses; Native American tribal organizations (other than Federally recognized tribal governments); State governments; Small businesses; City or township governments; Private institutions of higher education; County governments; Others (see text field entitled "Additional Information on Eligibility" for clarification); Native American tribal governments (Federally recognized); Nonprofits that do not have a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education
