Administrative Core

Abstract The Administrative Core (AC) of New Hampshire INBRE (NH-INBRE) is responsible for implementing all aspects of the NH-INBRE program. It provides administrative leadership and budgetary oversight for the network. The AC interfaces with NIH Program, NH-INBRE, Steering Committee (SC), Executive Committee (EC), External Advisory Committee (EAC), and Internal Independent Evaluation. The AC is responsible for advancing the NH-INBRE goals of providing research opportunities for students at Partner schools and enhancing the science culture on Partner campuses. It does this through multiple mechanisms. The AC oversees the Developmental Research Projects Program (DRPP), which provides research grants to faculty at Partner schools following the review of their proposed projects and selection of those that combine the best science with a strong environment for training student researchers. The AC also oversees research support and training at the PUI Partners, which offers workshops in advanced techniques, supports the summer student research programs, nursing research program, and the mentoring program. The mentoring program links faculty mentors from the Lead institutions with faculty holding NH-INBRE research grants at the Partners. To ensure effectiveness and make improvements, NH-INBRE supports a rigorous internal evaluation program through the AC. This program defines metrics for each NH-INBRE goal and all planned activities. The evaluation team develops tools that provide formative and summative evaluations of progress towards NH-INBRE goals and optimizing effectiveness of all its programs. Brief Specific Aims for the AC are: 1) effectively administer the overall NH-INBRE; 2) specifically administer the Student Research Program; 3) evaluate and improve impact of NH-INBRE programs.
