Abstract

Summary Intervention Support Core Center for Population Health Research (CPHR) investigators are engaged in research to better understand patterns and factors associated with population health throughout Montana and in other rural areas of our region. In a complementary fashion, developing solutions and interventions for rural health risks will require a richer understanding of potential intervention pathways and strategies. To meet these needs, the Intervention Support (IS) Core has been designed with the overall objective of providing support services related to health economics, mixed-methods analyses, and stakeholder engagement, so that CPHR researchers will be able to successfully carry out their respective research projects. We will accomplish our overall objective through three Specific Aims. Building on the successful development and implementation of our IS Core during Phase 1, through Aim 1 we will continue to supporting CPHR investigators with health economics and mixed-methods analyses, while also implementing new elements to our Core including trainings, clinical research support, and project-specific Community Advisory Boards. In Aim 2, we will provide specific support for each of the five Phase 2 Research Project Leads related to community engagement, health economics, and intervention design and implementation, as they each have unique needs as they conduct research in our rural state. For Aim 3, we will ensure the long-term sustainability of the IS Core through implementation of a business plan based on a fee-for-service model. Following these three aims, the IS Core will ensure that CPHR researchers have the technical support they need as they pursue independent research funding in the next step of their research careers.
