Abstract

ADMINISTRATIVE CORE: CORE A - PROJECT SUMMARY/ ABSTRACT The Administrative Core (Core A) of the Johns Hopkins Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (JHADRC) is central to the success of the Center, since it provides: (1) the overall direction and strategic planning for the Center; (2) the infrastructure and resources that foster new directions for research and training within the institution; (3) coordination among the Cores and the scientific, financial and administrative oversight for the Center; and (4) leadership for interactions of the Center with the local community and the national network of Alzheimer’s Disease Centers (ADCs) and other national collaborative activities. The leadership team is drawn from five key departments at Johns Hopkins University: Neurology, Psychiatry, Pathology, Neuroscience and Biostatistics. Each of these departments is extremely strong, and their representation within the JHADRC leadership facilitates support for new initiatives across the institution. Moreover, almost all of the Core Leaders have worked together for many years, which further fosters strategic planning and effective execution. Organizational and strategic planning for the Center is guided by the Executive Committee that meets monthly, which includes the Leaders and Co-Leaders of each of the Cores and the REC. A Financial Advisory Committee meets semi-annually. Oversight of the Center is provided by an External Advisory Committee that meets annually, and an Internal Scientific Advisory Committee that meets bi-annually.
