Program Development (Pilot) Core

Project Summary The Program Development (Pilot) Core (Core B) is the heart of CDHA’s research contribution. Its overarching goal is to support new and innovative lines of research that promote the center’s five signature research themes in the demography of health and aging. In the coming years, Core B will identify, evaluate, and allocate two types of pilot grants: one for emerging scholars and one for scholars at any career stage proposing methodological or data collection innovations, particularly those capitalizing on NIH-funded data resources housed in Wisconsin. Core B will also formalize a mentorship program providing extensive training and support to awardees of emerging scholars’ pilot projects. CDHA will maintain an efficient system to monitor the progress of funded pilot projects and ensure that pilot projects lead to submission of larger project proposals to granting agencies. Finally, through this core CDHA builds additional support for program development by leveraging additional opportunities within the University (e.g., Office of Vice Chancellor of Research, College, and other centers) and beyond it.
